7 years of Ultrachron

Wow it doesn’t seem like it’s been 7 years, but Ultrachron has been around since early 2009. When it was released, it was only the 2000th app on the Android Market. Soon it was featured in an HTC video for the first Android phone the G1:

After that, the app quickly became the #1 utility app for Android and for a while was in the top 40 of the entire Android market. This earned me recognition from Google has a “top developer” for android.

The app was also featured by the Car Phone Warehouse in the UK, and wireless carriers from all over the world.

Brent Rose wrote a really great review of the app in 2010 that was printed in several places including the Washington Post and PC World. Over the years there were also quite a few mentions in blogs and even a print magazine review in Japan.

All of the formal recognition was nice, but the best part was hearing from the diverse group of Ultrachron users. This included trainers on the US Olympic Speed Skating  team, astronomers, trauma center doctors, coaches, sailers, cooks, and many more people.

There have been quite a few updates since 2009, but Ultrachron 2 is by far the biggest one. It updates the app to modern android standards, has multi-timer support, and even supports Google Now voice commands.

I hope the customers that have stuck with the app over the years appreciate this update as much as I appreciate them.
